Introduction: strengthening of knowledge and skills system having general or specific characteristics ensures the systemic nature of the teaching-learning process for the subject of Basic Histological Techniques-II in the specialization. Objective: to assess the systemic approach of the teaching-learning process for Basic Histological Techniques-II subject, its correspondence with the objectives and its contribution to the professional performance as a specialist. Material and Method: to conduct this study, all teaching staff of Histology and Embryology specialty was included; comprising specialists from these two specialties (7) and from Pathology (9), for a total of 16 professors intentionally chosen. This study was supported on dialectic-materialist method to direct instructions to use methods from the theoretical point of view (deductive-inductive), empirical (documentary review and surveys) and descriptive statistics. Results: the skills to be developed for each topic of study were no recognized in the syllabus of the subject, and the insufficient existence of teaching aids. Conclusions: the need of a systemic character is evident in order to improve teaching-learning process of Basic Histological Techniques-II subject, providing an adequate design of the teaching-aids into the related specialties of Pinar del RC-o Medical Sciences School.
