Abstract

Introduction: interdisciplinary approach in teaching-learning process is an act where knowledge about other subjects is related to achieve an objective. Objective: to characterize interdisciplinary factor in Gynecology and Obstetrics subject between March 2012-April 2013 at Abel Santamaría Cuadrado University Hospital, Pinar del Río. Material and method: an observational, cross-sectional, qualitative-quantitative of pedagogical-kind study was carried out, where induction-deduction, historical-logical and theoretical procedures were used, as well as analysis and synthesis aimed at summing up and interpret the information; reviewing also the literature related to teaching-learning and the interdisciplinary processes. Observation of lectures was taken as empirical method. Results: the majority of the teaching staff of Obstetrics and Gynecology has the highest teaching rank with an adequate preparation to conduct an interdisciplinary link with related subjects, difficulties when linking Biochemistry and Histology were identified, even though methodological preparation was assessed as good. Conclusions: the interdisciplinary link in Gynecology and Obstetrics subject is insufficient as the integration with other basic sciences was not properly achieved. According to the topics, professors have wide-range experience and competences from the methodological work conducted. Records were expressed in absolute and percentage data.
