Material and method: an observational, prospective, longitudinal and analytical-descriptive study was performed at Abel Santamaría Cuadrado University Hospital of Pinar del Río, between January 2012 and June 2013. The target group was composed by the total number of patients operated to correct incontinence; while the sample was made up of the patients intervened by the technique transobturator tape. All of them were filled out a survey form; the statistical analysis was carried out by percentage, the mean, and the standard deviation. Results: the age mean was 58.1 ± 10 years, with predominating postmenopausal, white skin (58.1%), and multiparity (64.3%). The mean time of the natural history of patients with incontinence was 26 ± 13.5 months. The surgical technique transobturator together with any other surgical procedure was performed in 89.3%. Intra- and postoperative complications were minimal and the 97.3% of them were satisfied with the surgery. Conclusions: The technique transobturator is an effective and secure procedure against stress incontinences, and pleasingly received by the patients.
