VARGAS YZQUIERDO, Jorge et al. Influence of Fidel Castro’s pedagogical thinking in the formation of ethic values in the health professionals. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2015, vol.19, n.2, pp.320-329. ISSN 1561-3194.

Introduction: Fidel has been the foremost architect of the works of Cuban public health, designer of a new and unique health system, which is inclusive, free, of universal and comprehensive reach. Objective: to identify the influence of Fidel Castro’s pedagogical thinking in the formation of ethic values in the health professionals. Material and method: a group of documents were analyzed that ratify the work of the Cuban historic leader concerning the Cuban public health and others where his thinking is quoted by several authors. As theoretical methods, bibliographic review, analysis and synthesis were used. Results: since the proclamation of the revolutionary Moncada Program and his historic self-defense allegation “History will absolve me,” Fidel delineated with meridian precision the need for paying special attention to public health, which he considered the most sensible and sacred for the quality of life and welfare of the human being, appreciated as an inherent right to the human being and the people, and which became a sacred duty of the Revolution. The positive influence of Fidel Castro’s pedagogical thinking is evidenced in the formation of values in the health professionals, as well as the main values that should be encouraged. Conclusions: it has been concluded that this work may be used by teachers as an educative tool for contributing with the formation of values in the new generations trained in this sector.
