ABSTRACT

Introduction:

the process of professional training is closely related to the professional performance of the human resources. In this sense, when it particularizes in health technologists, mainly Podology specialty, the training process for this group of professionals should be aimed at improving their professional performance which presents insufficiencies that extend to the quality of the services they provide.

Objective:

to identify the main theoretical basis that supports the process for the professional training of Podology technologists.

Method:

a descriptive-longitudinal study was conducted using the dialectical-materialist method as a general one. Approaches of theoretical levels such as: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction and systematization; along with bibliographic review of written articles and scientific texts as empirical methods were used.

Results:

the identification of the theoretical-methodological bases provided the purpose of the teaching-learning activities, which allowed improving the professional performance regarding chiropodology procedures and extending to the services of Podology.

Conclusions:

the close relationship between the professional training, and the specialized performance along with its improvement, is the method to accomplish that the human resources to become into a socially- active labor force who will be able to assume the creative, innovative and scientific- technological development in their work-places.
