The target group matched up with the sample and comprised 60 patients diagnosed with onychomycosis, patients were divided into two groups: to group A terbinafine cream was applied, and to group B male-pine fluid extract, in both group were applied such medication twice a day for six months.

Results:

male sex predominated (70 %), the most affected group 5475was 61-80 years old (50,1 %), in group A urticaria and pruritus predominated (18,3 %), and 8,3 % left the treatment, being adverse reactions and the route of administration the main causes of this refusal and 30 % of the patients in this group did not show improvement.

Conclusions:

there was a prevalence of male sex, ages between 61 and 80; it was proved that the treatment with male-pine fluid extract is safer and more effective than terbinafine cream.
