CORDERO-BETANCOURT, Lázaro Leduan et al. Arthroscopic treatment, fibula osteotomy and platelet lysate in gonarthrosis and varus deformity. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2022, vol.26, n.2 Epub 01-Mar-2022. ISSN 1561-3194.
Introduction:
the knee is the joint most affected by degenerative processes, which are sometimes associated with angular deformities, most frequently varus deformity, which makes their treatment more difficult. Knee osteoarthritis is a very disabling condition, characterized by pain, stiffness, instability and functional loss. It is a degenerative disease that has increased its prevalence in recent decades, closely linked to the aging of the population.
Objective:
to evaluate the results with the combined application of arthroscopy, fibula osteotomy and platelet lysate in patients with gonarthrosis and varus deformity, in the orthopedic service at Abel Santamaria Cuadrado General Teaching Hospital, in the period April 2018 and December 2019.
Methods:
a descriptive, longitudinal and prospective study was conducted at Abel Santamaria Cuadrado General Teaching Hospital between 2018 and 2019, in which the technique of Dr. Ying Ze Zhang, from the department of orthopedics, was combined with the technique of Dr. Ying Ze Zhang, from the department of orthopedics of the orthopedic surgery department belonging to the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University in Shijiazhuang, China, with arthroscopy and the application of platelet lysate in patients who presented gonarthrosis and varus deformity of the knees. It was verified as a result in 17 patients treated after one (1) year of evolution.
Results:
the average age was 64 years, being 8 women and 9 men. The visual analogical scale for pre and post-operative pain was applied; 15 patients were evaluated as good for 88,2 %, and 2 as fair for 11,7 %, and 1 complication occurred.
Conclusions:
with the combined application of arthroscopy osteotomy of the fibula and platelet lysate in patients with gonarthrosis and varus deformity, good results are achieved, with improvement or disappearance of the pre-existing clinical symptoms and signs.
