Introduction:

the process that Cuba is undergoing today in the search for new horizons to preserve the national patrimony, forces to tighten the links with technology, where professionals can, with their work, transform the existing reality. Institutional repositories have become the main way to publish, preserve and disseminate the digital information of institutions. The information management area of the Provincial Center of Medical Sciences Information of Pinar del Río shows progress in the implementation of digital repositories, in which it has been working in a dispersed way.

Objective:

to develop the information architecture for the management process of the information contained in the different repositories, using Information and Communication Technologies.

Methods:

the following methods were used at the theoretical level: Historical-Logical, Induction-Deduction, Analysis-Synthesis and Modeling combined with the Structural Systemic; Methods at the empirical level: Observation and Documentary Analysis.

Results:

the prototype was designed for the information management process contained in the different repositories, using Information and Communication Technologies.

Conclusions:

the prototype of the computer application (search engine), designed in the research, made it possible to achieve interoperability between the different repositories and recovery of the information contained in them through a controlled search language.
