Introduction:

the Emergency service is the most used service, with great media impact and on the people served, even when the service indicators behave in accordance with the established values; The critical analysis of the problems and the systematic proposal of effective, sustainable and acceptable measures are required to improve care in the emergency room and satisfy the needs of patients and their families in emergencies.

Objective:

develop an intervention strategy to improve the quality of care provided in the emergency and emergency service of the Abel Santamaría Cuadrado General Hospital.

Methods:

a descriptive research was carried out, applying theoretical and empirical methods such as: logical historical analysis, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, documentary analysis. Observation and survey.

Results:

it is obtained a group of recommendations they guarantee timely and adequate care in emergencies was improved, based on the clinical method and the judicious and efficient use of diagnostic means, contributing to the teaching training of students and residents.

Conclusions:

this research made it possible to raise the quality of emergency and emergency care, based on the improvement of professional performance and teamwork, based on the knowledge of their rights and the fulfillment of their duties, individual and collective responsibilities to the best functioning of the Guard Corps.
