Ants behave as pests or natural enemies on agrarian ecosystems according with men actions and environmental conditions. Looking forward to characterize the fauna of ants associated to an urban agrarian production system, a study was conducted at the UBPC 1 de Julio, in Cerro municipality, Havana City from March 2009 to March 2010. Four sampling stations were selected with three transects and three microenvironments each one. Samplings were done bimonthly with traps of edible baits made of sugar sweetened cotton. Systematic composition, specific richness and abundance were the evaluated indicators. The most representative subfamily was Myrmicinae representing with 93.4% of captures and reaches the highest population levels in August. Genus Solenopsis, Paratrechina, Brachymyrmex, Cardiocondyla, Wasmannia, Tetramorium, Monomorium and Leptothorax were identified. The Solenopsis morphospecies richness was high in comparison with the reported number for Cuba, being the most abundant genus with 68% of captures, followed by Wasmannia with 16%.
