Abstract

Background: there is an agreement on the need for the achievement of a teaching-learning process in higher education that educates, instructs and develops, and the corresponding search for alternatives of continuous training of the university teachers. Objective: to propose a strategy of continuous training addressed to the university teachers to enhance the significant learning. Development: the research was made at "José Martí Pérez" University of Sancti Spíritus supported by a qualitative methodology and action research as a method, essentially by participation. A strategy of continuous training for university teachers to enhance the significant learning focused on cooperative work in the group, from an understanding of a continuous training as a process of collective construction that favors group learning. Viable methodological resources are presented for the participatory diagnosis of the training needs and potentialities, and cooperative work in the group. Conclusions: the proposed strategy is presented as an alternative with remarkable influences on the development of professional and personal areas of the teaching staff that make easier the evolution of the social context in which they are, and drive towards an educational practice aimed at enhancing the significant learning in college students. Its relevance, feasibility and its transformative potential according to the participating teachers was valued by expert criteria.
