Background:

Values formation is a priority for higher education, so every university career recognizes axiological basis in its curriculum, then also in the Medicine career.

Objective:

To delve into the theoretical and methodological aspects that characterizes the axiological basis of the initial formation in the Medicine career, to contribute to values formation distinguished by its relevance.

Results:

The theoretical definitions related to values, education in values and values formation, and their relationships with the pedagogical conception of the initial formation process were studied in depth. Methodological aspects of the values formation in the institutional context were analyzed with emphasis on the actions to be implemented by professors, students, group of students and teaching directors.

Conclusions:

The study of the theoretical and methodological aspects of the axiological basis of the initial training in the Medicine career, allows affirming that the evidence in the professional performance, of the general practitioner, of a system of socially relevant values, constitutes the distinctive attribute of his virtues. The process of values formation is defined as a priority in the Medicine career.
