Resumen

GUPTA, Rajesh; VYAS, Jitesh  y  BHAVE, Pramod R. Comparison of looped water distribution network designs for various link flow distributions. RIHA [online]. 2012, vol.33, n.3, pp.33-43. ISSN 1680-0338.

The cost of water network increases with increase in reliability. Usually, a compromise is necessary between cost and reliability. Some link-flow distribution models have been suggested in the recent past to impart more redundancy in the network which not only assure topological redundancy but also provide better supply capacities in the event of pipe failure. Four such link-flow distribution models are considered for comparison of network cost and reliability. Optimal designs of networks are obtained using Linear Programming (LP) for the known link flows. Reliability of the networks are assessed using node and volume reliability parameters, which are estimated considering the network performance during failure conditions. It is recommended to select a design that provides maximum ratio of increase in reliability to increase in cost.

Palabras clave : design; optimization; reliability; water distribution networks.
