The cartography of the vulnerability to contamination of the aquifers is part of the strategies of protection of the quality of groundwaters draining toward the Great Swamp of the North of Ciego of Ávila from the Moron geological basin. To determine the vulnerability degree to contamination by means of the DRASTIC method was the objective of this work. It shows that 87,9% of the aquifer is valued as of high and very high vulnerability, which indicates the exposition of the groundwaters to contamination coming mainly from disposal of residual wastes with deficient or no treatment. This result is a convenient tool in the decision-making process concerning the protection and managing of water resources and in planning of territorial environmental classification.
