This work present a System for the Operation of Single Reservoir (SOES) accomplished in the mathematical assistant MATLAB using the Storage-Reliability-Yield relationships coupled with Kritski and Menkel methodology for carryover storage reservoir. The SOES implies an optimization mode that uses as objective function the minimization of water shortage cost to users linked to a single reservoir, besides constraints of the reservoir, Kritski and Menkel method and the users demands. The SOES was applied to get the optimal operating policy of Gota Blanca reservoir, including its Hedging Rules, optima linitial storage to get the target demand of three users, monthly shortage of the users and other interesting results for reservoir operation.
