Abstract

ABRIL SALTOS, Ricardo Vinicio; RODRIGUEZ BADILLO, Leo Maximiliano; SUCOSHANAY VILLALBA, Darwin Javier  and  BUCARAM VISUMA, Erika Mariela. Evaluation of the water quality of the Puyo river basin. riha [online]. 2017, vol.38, n.2, pp.59-72. ISSN 1680-0338.

In this research 15 points of Puyo river were monitored, six in urban areas and nine in the rural area as well as seven tributaries in order to determine the behavior of physical, chemical and microbiological parameters in the mid subbasin of the Puyo river in the section between the sectors Fatima and Union Base. They were evaluated from the physico-chemical and microbiological characteristics, the values of dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, surfactants, fecal coliforms, nitrates, nitrites, sulfates, BOD5, residual chlorine and organophosphates. The relationship between the studied parameters through the correlation coefficient R2 Pearson was analyzed. The results showed that pH and fecal coliform exceeded permissible limits established under Ecuatorian law, with the highest concentration of pollutants in urban areas.

Keywords : waste water; flow; water pollution.
