Abstract
RIANO VALLE, Félix. Leonhard Euler's contributions to the development of Hydraulics. riha [online]. 2021, vol.42, n.3, pp.82-102. Epub July 21, 2021. ISSN 1680-0338.
Leonhard Euler, an outstanding mathematician, made important contributions to the development of Hydraulics, sometimes little recognized. Some of his main contributions to Theoretical Hydrodynamics are listed in the article. In general, the analytical deduction of the Continuity Equations and the Movement of Ideal Fluids is presented. The “modern concept of pressure” as well as the notion of “particle” and “current line” are also analyzed. The "Eulerian" version of Newton's Second Law is disclosed and the fundamental equation of hydraulic reaction machines discovered by him is shown. The writing discloses interesting aspects of the life of this famous scientist.
