Abstract

CASTILLO GARCIA, Carlos Lázaro; DIAZ PEREZ, Tomás; ALVAREZ GIL, Lamberto  and  ALVAREZ GONZALES, Michael. Strategies for the design of urban drainage systems in Santa Clara City. Ing. hidrául. ambient. [online]. 2022, vol.43, n.2, pp.44-57.  Epub May 20, 2022. ISSN 1680-0338.

This research proposes a strategy for the design of Urban Drainage Systems based on the application of new concepts based on specialized software for its modeling and analysis, using the city of Santa Clara as a case study. The main objective of the strategy is to prepare comprehensive solution proposals for the places most affected by floods. The results obtained allow recognizing the existence in the city of 66 Urban Hydrological Areas, of which a total of 24 are of interest, and 16 Urban Drainage Systems are proposed as an integral solution, with a total length of its layout of 40.69 km and having a direct impact on 42 Critical Drainage Points in the city.

Keywords : urban hydrological area; urban hydrology; critical point; urban drainage systems; critical stream.
