Resumen

SANCHEZ CEPERO, Zunay de Jesús; MARTINEZ BRITO, Isabel  y  HIDALGO GATO FUENTES, Iliana. Stress as a risk fact of the recurrent aphthous stomatitis. Rev. Med. Electrón. [online]. 2011, vol.33, n.1, pp. 39-44. ISSN 1684-1824.

The recurrent aphthous stomatitis presents with periodicity, intensity and persistence, therefore it is a motive of frequent consultation in the medical practice. It is related with unchaining psychological agents like stress as symptoms affecting life quality, and is a health problem among the population. In view of this problem, we determined to identify the presence of stress in patients assisting the emergency stomatologic consultations with recurrent aphthous stomatitis. To design and elaborate it we made an observational, analytic and transversal study, in patients assisting the emergency consultations and diagnosed with the disease. The universe was formed by 3 553 patients attended in the emergency consultation from whom there was selected a sample of 62. The psychological status of the last ones was assessed through the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. At the end we concluded that 90,3 % of the patients affected by the disease were under levels of stress, therefore we stated the existence of a significant statistic association between these psychological disorders and the disease.

Palabras clave : stomatitis afhthous; stress psychological; risk factors; oral medicine.
