^les^aIntroducción: la declaración reciente de la Organización Mundial de la Salud sobre la situación generada en África con la epidemia del virus ébola conlleva a acciones inmediatas de la comunidad salubrista internacional. La necesidad de información científica y de superación constante de los profesionales de las ciencias médicas, justifican la actualización del tema. Objetivo: identificar los sitios, documentos y referencias de los últimos 10 años sobre el comportamiento de la enfermedad y sus principales elementos diagnósticos y terapéuticos. Métodos: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica y documental en Internet. Se consultaron bases de datos como Hinari, Pubmed/Medline, Cochrane, Scielo y Scopus. Se seleccionaron 15 referencias y sitios con información científica sobre el tema, con un nivel de actualización mayor de 70 %, perteneciente a los últimos cinco años. Se emplearon las palabras claves virus ébola, epidemiología, prevención, diagnóstico, pronóstico, tratamiento, y los operadores boleanos “and” “or”. Resultados: se encontraron escasos artículos en revistas científicas cubanas. La mayoría de los artículos están relacionados con la terapéutica, no se encontró suficiente información sobre la prevención de la enfermedad. Se identificaron los sitios que deben consultarse permanentemente para que los profesionales de la salud mantengan buen nivel de actualización en la temática. Conclusiones: el sitio de la Organización Mundial de la Salud y el creado por Infomed en Cuba son referentes esenciales para mantener actualización en virus ébola. Es esencial el papel que juega la comunidad salubrista a nivel internacional y los gobiernos, para limitar el daño y evitar su propagación.^len^aBackground: the recent World Health Organization pronouncement on the situation generated in Africa by the ebola virus epidemics leads to the immediate actions of the health care world community. The need of scientific information and constant training of the medical sciences professionals give reason for the theme updating. Aim: to identify sites, documents and references published during the last 10 years on the disease behavior, main diagnosis and therapeutic elements. Methods: we carried out a bibliographic and documental review in Internet. We consulted several data bases as Hinari, Pubmed, Medline, Cochrane, SCielo and Scopus. We chose 15 references and sites with scientific information on the theme, with an updating level of more than 70 % of them published in the last 5 years. We used the key words ebola virus, epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and the Boolean operators “and” “or”. Outcomes: we found few articles in Cuban scientific journals. Most of the articles were related with therapeutics; we did not find enough information about the disease prevention. We identified the sites that should be constantly consulted by health professionals to keep a good level of updating on the theme.   Conclusions: the World Health Organization site and the one created by Infomed in Cuba are essential references to keep updating on ebola virus. It is essential the role played by the international health care community and the governments, in damage reducing and disease spread avoiding.
