In 2014, 129 years were commemorated from the birth of Dr Mario Emilio Dihigo Llanos (1895-1976), renowned physician and professor. With the aim of rendering him a deserved homage, we carried out this work. We dealt with aspects of his life and work, highlighting his values and the most important facets of his formation and performance. We made reference to other physicians who have been glories of Matanzas sciences and whose activities were contemporary.
