Pedagogical upgrading adjusts to the changes in the settings when it is lead, requiring systematic contextualization for the sake of providing the teaching staff with the necessary knowledge and values for improving the teaching-learning process. The objective of this work was emitting considerations on pedagogical upgrading of the professors of Cuban medical universities. We used the methods of documental analysis, managing the information by exploring on-line information resources and using searching engines like Google and Scirus. Pedagogical upgrading is the improvement and development of an educative option allowing potentiating the training process, and also strengthening knowledge, skills, attitudes and pedagogical values. It has its permanent origins in the initial training of an individual in a profession with a pattern essentially determined by the dominance of the knowledge base that is proper to the exerted specific discipline and is enhanced and widened.  It is necessary reinforcing pedagogical upgrading to improve more and more the training performance of the professors, reaching with that the excellence in the teaching-educative process.
