This work aims at improving the initial diagnosis that is carried out to the students admitted in the medical careers of our Medical School “Carlos J. Finlay” in Camagüey. It is based on a main problem: the necessity of the application of a diagnosis and its understanding as a process that assists students to face successfully the challenge of culture massiveness. The important role that all the teaching departments play in the elevation of the students ' cultural level , task that is not exclusive to the department of University Extension, is analyzed
