Technology assessment in the contemporary world, has become a problem of growing importance and urgency, when we take into consideration the consequences that today's technological development has in the natural world as well as in the society. This task is impossible to fulfil if the true essence of technology in its interrelation with science and society is not understood. For this reason, a bibliographical revision of specialized materials on the topic is carried out, that facilitates both, an update on these aspects that may contribute to its understanding from a new perspective
