It was carried out an intervention study in the Adults' Stomatological Clinic of the municipality of Florida between March of 2005 and January of the 2007 with the objective of evaluating the effectiveness of the application of techniques of relaxation with patient with anxiety to the stomatological treatment. The universe of study was constituted by 39 patients who are older than 15 years old and with fear to the stomatological treatment. 31 patients constituted the sample. The investigation was conceived in 4 phases: preparatory, execution, evaluative and informative processing. The 74,19% of the patients referred as their causes of stomatological fear the impression produced by the team and stomatological instruments, the noise of equipments (54,84%) and the previous painful experiences (48,39%). At the beginning of the investigation there prevailed the patients with a marked anxiety (54,84%) and bad condition of buccal health (67,74%). 54,84% of the patients needed from one to three relaxation sessions to begin with the stomatological treatment. Most of the patients passed at the inferior immediate level that they presented. The relaxation techniques were effective in 67,74% of the patients.
