The therapeutic effort limitation is considered by health professionals as a good clinical practice at both intensive and emergency care units. Resulting from circumstances that favored its materialization in modern world, it currently presents serious problems, not only in Cuba, but in other countries as well. Such problem demand prompt solutions. This paper critically analyzes the emergence and historical development, as a positive sign move, of this medical practice, up to its current state.
