Abstract

OZORES SUAREZ, Francisco Javier. Ethical aspects related to transesophageal echocardiography in pediatric patients. Rev Hum Med [online]. 2012, vol.12, n.2, pp.241-251. ISSN 1727-8120.

This work deals with technical aspects of the transesophageal echocardiography in pediatric patients, and it is explained the way in which the informed consent and medical ethics processes are conducted; as well as authority, non maleficence, patient’s autonomy, professionalism of the personnel that follows this procedure, and interpersonal relations among them. As a conclusion it is set that the beneficial introduction of this diagnostic procedure in our field brought about the necessity of identifying relevant ethical aspects and that its management should be supported on the principle of integral protection of the patient.
