This paper is a historiographical study about the development of Psychiatry in Cuba with emphasis in the province of Camagüey, by using theoretical level methods such as historic-logic and document analysis as empiric. Depth interviews were used as well, during 2020. Psychiatry in Camagüey has gained acknowledge and prestige all over the county because of its results. More than one hundred specialists have obtained their degree for the country and other places. Its Psychiatric facility was the first hospital created by the Cuban Revolution. This province had the first and biggest day care hospital for psychotic patients and the second crisis intervention unit in the nation (the first outside the capital), the first in which a mental health community center was created (outside the capital) and also the first in concluding the municipal network of these centers. Besides, Camagüey an Psychiatry as post graduate specialty was pioneer in the country to undergo the process of accreditation and got Certificated category. The novelty of this paper consists in create a written memory of the history of the specialty in Camagüey, of which there are no previous publications.
