Introduction:

The upgrading of administrative leaders and reserves constitutes a permanent process in the context of higher medical education, that is why its characterization has an undeniable value based on scientific basis. The objective of the paper is aimed at exposing the most relevant elements that particularize the process of upgrading of administrative leaders and reserves at the University of Medical Sciences in Camagüey, particularly, in the areas of Economy and Services, as a result of a research project carried out from 2021 to 2023.

Methods:

The paper has a quanti-qualitative character, in which methods, techniques and instruments were applied, among them: the analysis of the bibliographical sources, the interviews to administrative leaders and the observation of their administrative performance to make an overall analysis of the results.

Results:

The most relevant and particular elements of the characterization of the process of upgrading of administrative leaders and reserves at the University of Medical Sciences in Camagüey, particularly, in the areas under investigation.

Discussion:

The results were analyzed from the diversity of criteria of the authors, their coincidences and differences in the presence and treatment of the characterization of the process of upgrading of such administrative leaders and reserves.
