GARCIA RODRIGUEZ, Jaqueline; REVELO ALVAREZ, Pavel  e  PEREZ GIL, Amaury Lázaro. Sociocultural and psychological approach to death and grief due to death in the face of COVID-19 in Cuba. Rev Hum Med [online]. 2024, vol.24, n.3  Epub 19-Dez-2024. ISSN 1727-8120.

The COVID-19 pandemic and confinement have altered experiences related to death and grief. The absence of goodbyes, unfinished plans and the perception of loneliness and family abandonment, qualify the process of mourning after the loss. Despite the universality of grieving processes, interpreting practices implies contextualizing them. Thus, a theoretical-reflective study was carried out during the last semester of 2023, with the objective of arguing death and mourning due to death from COVID-19 within the Cuban context from a sociocultural and psychological approach. 31 documents that refer to the topic were reviewed, extracted from the Medline and SciELO databases. The authors consider that the approach to death and grief due to COVID-19 has elements that distinguish it and must be taken into account due to their implications for psychological counseling and grief therapy.
