Resumen

ALBA CONDE, Mariely  y  BERNAL CONSUEGRA, Annia. Clinical Practice Guidelines for Preoperative Nursing Care in the Outpatient Specialized Center of Cienfuegos. Medisur [online]. 2012, vol.10, n.2, pp.98-103. ISSN 1727-897X.

Background: protocols for practical guidelines in nursing, when related to surgical care, represent a necessary methodological tool in outpatient management. Objective: To design a clinical practice guideline for preoperative nursing care in the Outpatient Specialized Center of Cienfuegos. Methods: nursing actions during the preoperative surgical stage were analyzed in order to support the proposal of a practical guideline. A system of theoretical and empirical methods, such as documents analysis, a questionnaire and experts criteria was used. Quantitative data were processed using SPSS, version 15.0 for Windows. Results: criteria for priorities in preoperative nursing were established and finally, by unification and triangulation, the guideline was designed and validated. It included an assessment instrument that was organized following the pattern in which selected preoperative actions are commonly presented with five basic questions, eight specific questions and two complementary questions. Conclusions: The proposed guideline was validated by experts, who awarded the highest assessment criteria in relation to its degree of applicability, feasibility, and generalization possibilities to other surgical settings in the country. Its main contribution is to serve as a useful tool for nurses who work in health services.
