Background: In recent years the restoration of facial harmony has become popular. In that sense the most appropriate techniques and treatments are combined according to the needs of each patient. Objective: To describe the results of reconstructive surgery in patients with facial asymmetry and mandibular retrognathia accompanied by rhinomegaly. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted including of 20 patients operated at the Dr. Gustavo Aldereguía Lima General University Hospital of Cienfuegos, from 2007 to 2012, using techniques of chin base osteotomy and perfiloplasty for cases of facial asymmetry and mandibular retrognathia accompanied by rhinomegaly. The variables studied included age, sex, type of anesthesia and patient’s satisfaction level. Results: all patients showed a high degree of satisfaction with the results after surgery. Female patients predominated as well as the age group from 20 to 25 years old. Conclusions: Facial harmony recovery allowed patients to regain self-esteem and reduce feelings of worthlessness, although this type of surgery is not only aimed at the aesthetic recovery, but also to functional recovery.
