Abstract

DORTA CONTRERAS, Alberto. The Secret and Public Life of a Scientific Paper. Medisur [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.5, pp.641-646. ISSN 1727-897X.

Citation of a scientific paper is a measure of its contribution to the advancement of science, as well as a measure of the contribution of the author to scientific development. It is important to know the genesis and internal and prior process to the publication of papers that receive a high number of citations. The aim of this study is to characterize the impact of the Dengue article six months after its electronic publication in the Lancet from a bibliometric point of view. The daily average number of citations received by this article is five so far, totaling more than a thousand citations, which makes it the most cited Cuban article of this century.

Keywords : journal article; scientific and technical publications; serials publications; bibliometric indicators.
