This work reviews the evolution of Cuban medical publications, from the point of view of the author and his professional experience in Cienfuegos. The efforts, the main results obtained and the factors which contributed to them are stated with emphasis in the first four decades. It is recognized the significant increase in the number of Cuban digital publications in the whole country, the determinant role played by Infomed, starting on the Internet age and the revolution of the Information and Communication Technologies. Although this has not been accompanied by an increase in the global consistent quality of the Cuban medical publications and there are still dissatisfactions and gaps in the issue regarding the potentials that there exits. The author insists in the necessity of providing adequate priority and training of all to write the proper quality the results of the Cuban Medical Science and its divulgation in adequately acknowledged publications.
