Background:
Cuba has provided its services in many countries around the world, including Ecuador. Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is one of specialties that have worked there.
Objective:
to describe the results of Physiatry work in Cisne II Ecuador, from January to April 2018.
Methods:
descriptive study that included all the patients treated by the Cuban doctor who worked at the Cisne II Health Center, type C. The measured variables: number of patients treated, sex, age groups and conditions treated. The data were obtained from the locality Department of Statistics, Admission and Archives.
Results:
1110 patients were treated, mainly female (54%) and the group between 45 and 64 years old. The most frequently treated condition was knee osteoarthritis (26.7%) followed by low back pain (23.1%); the least frequently observed was hemiplegia with 0.78%.
Conclusions:
a significant number of people received medical service benefits for the common illness treatment among the population, something they had never had before.
