Cervical ectopic pregnancy is a rare condition, representing 0.1 % of all ectopic pregnancies, its frequency of occurrence is 0.15 to 0.3 %. It is characterized by an implantation of the trophoblast in the cervical mucosa. Diagnosis is given by transvaginal ultrasound and treatment involves medication or surgery depending on the case. The objective of the research was to identify the main risk factors, clinical criteria and diagnosis in cervical ectopic pregnancies and their impact on health. To achieve the stated objective, a bibliographic review was carried out with articles published from 2019 to 2023 in high-impact journals, 16 articles were found, among which case studies and theoretical sources of information were presented. Risk factors that predispose the population to develop a cervical ectopic pregnancy include: a history of cervical surgery, isolated reproductive procedures, placement of intrauterine devices, tobacco use, uterine curettage, and previous cervical infections. Early diagnosis is vital to avoid serious complications and there are clinical criteria to detect this type of pregnancy. In Ecuador, the lack of knowledge and protocols for its management and resolution has led to an increase in cases.
