Resumen

PORTUONDO PAJON, Marlene Irene. Dr. Eusebio Hernández: an exceptional teacher. Rev haban cienc méd [online]. 2008, vol.7, n.1. ISSN 1729-519X.

The life and work of the Dr. Eusebio Hernández has been little disclosed. If rather their work is known during the war of independence, it is not less certain than the paper that assumed during the Republic it is little disclosed. To understand their work in this period until their death, we should keep in mind their progressive ideas and their narrow bond with the university students, very in particular with Julio A. Mella. You cannot underrate the work that he carried out in the First Congress of Students in 1923 and in the foundation of the Popular University José Martí. And in search of the renovation of the university teaching their work like professor and their peculiar method of teaching that made it an exceptional teacher. It is not casual that it has been named as father of the obstetrics in Cuba. It is interest to disclose their non alone work to students of the health, but professionals and workers of this sector that ignore the meritorious work of this figure, and in particular to students and workers of the Hospital Calixto García to have been part of the history of the hospital enclosure, and to be a figure paradigm of the medical sciences in Cuba.

Palabras clave : Julio A. Mella; Popular university José Martí.
