OTERO IGLESIAS, Jacinta; PEREZ DIAZ, Teresa de la Caridad y ALEMANY PEREZ, Eduardo Joaquín. An approachment to the variables that can be taken into account as starting point for the Evaluation and Accreditation System for the specialties in Health Sciences. Rev haban cienc méd [online]. 2008, vol.7, n.1. ISSN 1729-519X.
The search for alternatives to promote the continuous improvement of the quality in the formation of the human resources for the Health Sciences is a priority task for the Ministry of Public Health. One of the ways to guarantee this is the establishment of Accreditation and Evaluation Systems for each of the levels of academic formation. The results in the academic formation of postgraduate courses in our country have shown the leadership in the formation of specialists within the Health System in Cuba and in the rest of the world and for it, with the internationalist projection as the core in the formation and provision of services. So far, it does not exist an evaluation and accreditation system of specialties in Public Health that accredits the quality of the process and the specialist as a result. An analysis of documents, published or not, related to this subject is done, and a set of variables that can be taken into account as starting point for the establishment of the Evaluation and Accreditation System for the specialties in Health Sciences are identified. This analysis must consider the complexity of the process ultimately given by the common elements of the specialists model and the professional profile where elements distinguishing and identifying each specialty or group of them can coexist.
