Lesions in the mouth mucosal are an important health problem, there are different risk factors which favor its appearance an example of this is the quality of the prosthesis. An observational, analytical, longitudinal retrospective study of cases and controls between September 2006 and January 2008 was performed in the Havana Faculty of Dentistry with the purpose of evaluate the quality of the prosthesis as a risk factor in the appearance of lesions in the mouth mucosal tissue. It was evident that a 77,4% of the cases were carrying bad quality prosthesis . It was concluded that the quality of the prosthesis was a risk factor in the appearance of the mouth mucosal tissue in the elderly. The most identified mouth lesions and associated with the use of prosthesis were sub prosthetic steatites and commissural keilitis.
