There is a recognition of the longtime tradition that the Havana Medical University has gained concerning the training of professionals who have developed high-level competences underlying their performance. It is also recognized the purpose of the University to renew the educational model as a response to the social reality in this millenium. Emphasis is placed on the need to contribute decisively to reinforce national identity, pride of their homeland, social commitment, and love to their college, as well as to reinforce social ethical values and shape professional ethical ones, which should be overt in a performance characterized by more citizen and professional responsibility. The role of the curriculum in the new Pedagogical Model is analyzed; the university ethical dimension is explained, and a framework is proposed so that the necessary curriculum strategies are included, aiming to strengthen values, to contribute to transparency and a sense of responsibility in accountability, from a social and professional ethical standpoint.
