BARRERAS GONZALEZ, Javier Ernesto et al. Choledocholithiasis: Current options of the laparoscopic and endoscopic treatment. Rev haban cienc méd [online]. 2010, vol.9, n.3, pp.374-384. ISSN 1729-519X.

With the advent of laparoscopic cholecystectomy in the 80s, Endoscopic retrograde cholangiography with endoscopic sphincterotomy and laparoscopic common bile duct exploration have changed the conventional protocol for the treatment of choledocholithiasis. There are currently a number of different therapeutic approaches to choledocholithiasis designed so that patients can also benefit from minimally invasive techniques. However, there is no consensus with respect to the algorithm for the diagnosis of choledocholithiasis that should be considered the gold standard, and the management of this disease currently depends on the experience and of each surgical team and their access to technological advances. The aim of this article is to review the different technical options available at the present time for the treatment of choledocholithiasis, discussing the results, advantages and disvantages of each.
