Introduction: Dentistry is a discipline with great risk of infection. More transmissible illnesses appear more infected patients could be treated by a dentist. Knowledge of these diseases and their transmissions ways is essential to avoid infection. Objective: Identify knowledge level of dentists and technicians about transmissible illnesses and their transmissions ways in dentistry consult. Method: An explanatory and traverse investigation was carried out on the Dentistry Services of the municipality La Lisa, Havana 2009-2010. There were studied 38 dentist and 33 technicians of dentistry (TAE). Information was obtained by accepted survey and processed by statistical program SPSS. Results: 77,5 % had more than 10 years of professional experience. 84,5 % had enough knowledge about transmissible illnesses. Transmission ways were correctly identified in 71,8 % of cases. All professionals with less than 10 years of experience answer correctly nevertheless only 63,6 % of professionals with more than 10 years of experience answer correctly. Discussion: Dentists and Technicians (TAE) knows the transmissible illnesses and transmission ways. All the answers about the ways were right in the group of professionals with less than 10 years of experience. This result was expected because of the recent inclusion of these topics in study programs of university. Conclusion: Dentists and Technicians (TAE) knows the transmissible illnesses and it´s contagious ways. Professionals with less than 10 years of working experience have better knowledge about transmission ways.
