Introduction: the obesity and overweight are two chronic and multifactorial diseases that constitute the factors of more frequent cardiovascular risks in people with established coronary illness. Objective: to describe how some indicators of adiposity are evidenced in a cohort of assisting individuals to outpatient desk at the "1ro de Enero" polyclinic in Playa municipality. Material and Methods: a cross sectional, descriptive and observational study was made. The study universe was constituted by 383 patients that visited the Núm.13 outpatient desk at the "1ro de Enero" polyclinic, Playa municipality, Havana, in the months of September and October of 2011. The variable age, sex, corporal mass Index, circumference of the waist, circumference of de hip, waist hip index were analyzed. Results: it was identified a 38, 9% of people with overweight and 17, 2% with obesity. 47,8% of people had abdominal obesity when the circumference of the waist was used as marker and 88,8% with the waist hip index. Conclusions: we concluded that in this population exist a high percentage of patients with obesity, overweight and an increase of the abdominal distribution of the corporal fat, mainly when using the waist hip index.
