Abstract

Introduction: over 50 years the United States of America government has enforced a criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba; it also includes an aggression for the development of the educational system in the island, which is considered one of the achievements of the revolutionary process at international level. Objective: to argue about repercussion of the economic, commercial and financial blockade enforced by the United States of America in the Cuban High Medical Education. Material and Methodo: a thorough bibliographic search was made using key words: ¨economic blockade¨ and ¨medical education´; the report presented by Cuba to the United Nations against the economic, commercial and financial blockade and the newspaper articles was recovered and studied. Development: it was taken into consideration the repercussion of the blockade in the Cuban Education: the displacement through far markets which aid to the excessive payment of charter and the investment in the store of merchandise, scarcity of reagent, row materials, scholar equipment, complementary bibliography and didactic materials, auto motor stock affectation, scarcity of book and the academic interchange between both countries, brain robbery. It is also analyzes their effect in the high medical education (scarcity of medicaments, medical equipment, diagnosis means, medical instruments, spare parts, scientific interchange restriction and the limitation to obtain financial budget to research project and professional up grade) emphasis it is made in the humans resources formation in the odontology area. Conclusions: the economic, commercial and financial blockade of United States of America against Cuba has unfavorably reverberated in the Cuban high medical education.
