Gender perspective in urban planning is an obligation of the Spanish public administration as well as the national, regional and local administration. The city of Albacete and the Regional Government of Castilla La Mancha, and an analysis made on the General Urban Plan asked the author of this article to lead the team work about the the participation of citizens in management, which is the basis to achieving the objectives. The paper presented focuses on the methodological experience carried out in situ, on the contributions and innovations made by the research. The paper also shows the mechanisms and instruments that enabled citizen´s participation, with few reference to Spain, constitute the first approximation to be applied to other similar projects.
