This article seeks to establish historical and cultural ties that influence Brazilian modern architecture and, consequently, the prolific work of Brazilian architect Fábio Moura Penteado. It describes several projects that identify the work of this architect and presents and analyzes in detail the project to the Bay of Pigs Monument, did to the international competition of 1962 as an example of the general idea that guided all his architectural production. Focusing on formative and expressive aspects of this work, which define a sculpture of great communicative potential, the text emphasizes the final material product as a result of architectural and social ideals of the architect.
