The characterization of the humidity in the eclectic residential buildings of the historic centre of Santiago de Cuba City allowed the evaluation of the behaviour of this phenomenon including the elements of covering and facade; the constructive techniques associated to the architectural style; and environment factors of the zone. The variables studied: type of facade, orientation, type of covering, affected surface and type of humidity were obtained from a database of a survey result. The predominant type of moisture in the eclectic residential buildings of the zone of study is the infiltration. Facades types most affected in terms of orientation and integration with the cover are: the simple and the balcony, with the reinforcing cover; and the environmental conditions do not help to minimize the effects of moisture. The study serves as a starting point for future research on the topic.
