The article describes the experiences gained in the implementation of projects for conservation of 26 buildings on the campus of the Instituto Superior Politécnico José Antonio Echeverría. The project was commissioned by the Rector of the university to provide technical documentation that would apply to the state budget for 2014, in which the institution will celebrate its half century of existence. The work was conducted with fourth-year students of architecture as part of their curriculum subjects. The article describes the procedures followed, the main results and the opinions of the participants. The advantages associated with the development of these projects with the participation of students were several: saving money to the institution for the preparation thereof, the acquisition of knowledge and practical experience of senior professional in a short time and the formation of values of commitment and belonging. With these projects, we were able to reconcile the academic goals with the needs of production, showing that the human component on motivation and individual and collective commitment had a weight greater than that usually assigned in similar situations.
