This work has as purpose to expose a procedure that evaluates synchronous motors energetically in service at industrial level to be substituted by asynchronous motors. The procedure uses the air gap torque method, as common alternative for the evaluation of both types of motors. It incorporates the economic evaluation of agreement with the method of the cost of the cycle of life and the influence of the motors in the reactive power of the place of the substitution. The implementation of the procedure in synchronous motors facilitates the technical and economic information for the development of a program of substitution of motors in the industry and it reported an annual energy saving of 5,02 MWh according to the desired operation of the selected asynchronous motors, the reactive power demanded by the selected motors, it increases the reactive power in 4,5%, what modifies the power factor at 0,98.
