Recently it has been producing an accelerated presence of non-linear elements in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors, which has affected the sinusoidal voltage waveform, altering its amplitude and frequency. These sectors obtain the electric energy from distribution networks, so it is essential to check them systematically in order to ensure the power quality according to the established standards. In this paper, a characterization and analysis of the behavior of power quality parameters on distribution electric networks by means of a set of statistical techniques implemented in MATLAB and the employ of representative indices is carried out. For that purpose, the readings of the ION 7650 placed in Sagua municipality are used as an example. The results after the application of these statistical techniques for the characterization of these power quality problems are discussed
